How to Sell a Website
Making the saleOkay, so you've made it to the point where you're trying to close the deal. By this time I'm sure you are really exhausted and just want to be done with it already. At this point I recommend compiling an email that looks a little bit like a quote. It shows the price agreed upon, the date of expected transaction, if you will help with any technical problems and for how long, the date of payment, and how the payment will be handled. I send that to my potential buyers and ask for an email confirming they agree to it. Just so I have something to show a judge if it ever comes to that. Be Careful with the MoneyExcept for my first sale, I have always used an escrow service. I use www.escrow.com and it has always made me and my buyer feel comfortable about the transaction. Although, escrow services do get quite pricey. So if you trust your buyer you should try to just get a check or something simple. My recommendation is: If Selling Price > $300, you should use an escrow service You don't want to go through all the work of making a sale and end up with nothing to show for it. Pay the money. You will be happy you did. What's NextHopefully you learned a lot from your first sale and next time the process will be much much easier. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns please feel free to send me an email. |
